Mtn Dew Code Red Is Now Available as an Energy Drink
Back in 2001, when I was too young to say “Mountain Dew” let alone drink it, Mtn Dew first released Mtn Dew Code Red, a bright red, cherry-flavored version of Mtn Dew. And now, more than two decades later, the company has taken Code Red to the next level with a new Mtn Dew energy drink called Mtn Dew Energy Code Red. This sounds like it could be a real Code Red situation (what I call it when I drink so much caffeine that I’m out of breath and black out for a few seconds).
So exactly how caffeinated is this new Mtn Dew energy drink?
Clocking in at 180mg of caffeine per bottle, the Mtn Dew Energy Code Red will have more caffeine than a Red Bull (the other energy drink with “red” in the name that is strangely not red but instead a urine-y shade of yellow I will never understand) but less caffeine than a 24-ounce Monster Energy Drink or the new caffeinated Gatorade that’s coming next year. So, depending on how caffeine affects you, this New Mtn Dew energy drink may be a “Code Red” situation, or it may not be. But tread carefully.
Bottom line, if you are a fan of Mountain Dew Code Red and a fan of energy drinks, this thing will be right up your alley. But if you are like me and caffeine makes you cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs (minus the Cocoa Puffs), then I would just stick to drinking the normal Mtn Dew Code Red (which contains only 54 mg of caffeine). It’s still caffeinated, but it ain’t gonna knock your socks off and make you black out.
